Lichen

Hiking one Autumn morning, I saw a tree stump covered in lichen that fanned out in circles of different shades of green. As I quilted the spirals, I remembered that tree trunk. This quilt is improvisationally pieced with four fabrics selected to create a value progression. When quilting, I began with the lightest teal in the top left quadrant and changed to darker threads as I moved out creating a focal point for the quilt.
